A for Andreas … M for Murkudis

Norway’s leading painter Olav Christopher Jenssen creates a dynamic new logo for Andreas Murkudis.

Due to his long-standing love for fine arts, Andreas Murkudis commissioned internationally acclaimed artist and friend Olav Christopher Jenssen to design his new logo.

The Norwegian painter and sculptor, typically working with a wide range of colours and occasionally incorporating written words or abbreviations into his paintings, applied his sense of pace and virtuosic lines into this playful representation of the store’s character: a hand-drawn, sketch-like outline with its own graphic sensibility.

The two go back a long way: Andreas Murkudis bought his first painting by Jenssen at Contemporary Fine Arts CFA Berlin in 1995, and in 1999 the artist painted a mural for the Museum der Dinge, when Andreas was its executive director. Paintings and an edition of vases by Olav Christopher Jenssen will be exhibited at Potsdamer Straße 98 in Berlin this fall.

Olav Christopher Jenssen is based in Berlin and Lya. He is a professor at Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig. His work is featured in the collections of Hamburger Kunsthalle, the Centre Pompidou and MoMA New York and was shown during the 1992 Documenta IX in Kassel.
