Andreas Murkudis hosted 5 events on the evening of September 16th to ring in the annual city-wide celebration of the arts.

ANDREAS MURKUDIS presented the Matéria Lowboard series from the recent Christian Haas for ClassiCon collaboration. These tables are characterized by their unusual dimensions and aura of tranquillity. Matéria is available in three different sizes and currently two surfaces – either natural or with indigo-dyed indentations. 2021 marks ANDREAS MURKUDIS’ 20-year-anniversary and so the storeowner wanted to use this year’s ART WEEK as an opportunity to pay homage to his longest-standing friendships and collaborators in the industry, including Christian Haas and Oliver Holy, owner of ClassiCon.

Book fiends were delighted to discover over 130 publications from legendary publisher Gerhard Steidl in a special room  of ANDREAS MURKUDIS 81. Once bought, STEIDL ships the books worldwide for free. For this occasion, Murkudis and Steidl also designed two tote bags, donning iconic Steidl quotations.

The recent MYKITA | LEICA Eyewear Collaboration was also revealed on the evening of the 16th. Bringing together their areas of expertise into a collective development process, the partnership pairs the innovative product engineering of the independent eyewear manufacturer MYKITA with the iconic design and finest lenses from the premium camera brand LEICA. Both MYKITA and LEICA are long time collaborators of Murkudis and so the collection fits seamlessly into Store 81’s product range.

A selection of rare cashmere shawls from the nineteenth century can be found in ANDREAS MURKUDIS 77. With fashion and furniture covered in Store 81 and 98, Murkudis has decided to make ANDREAS MURKUDIS 77 a designated space in which he will explore a theme or brand, that he is particularly passionate about – as is the case with this antique cashmere shawl exhibition. Andreas Murkudis sourced fifteen cashmere shawls from nineteenth century India and France directly from Frank Ames, the leading dealer and appraiser in historic textiles. Ames is a published author on the topic of cashmere shawls and has supplied The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Guimet Museum, amongst other institutions, with textile exhibits. All shawls can be purchased on site.

The interior store ANDREAS MURKUDIS 98 has been transformed into a quasi apartment, presenting a mono-brand exhibition of the Frankfurt furniture brand e15. Assembled by e15 founder Philipp Mainzer, e15 art director Farah Ebrahimi and design expert Andreas Murkudis, the space comprises a living room, bedroom, lounge area and dining room. The relationship between e15 and Andreas Murkudis dates back to the founding of the Berlin multi-brand store in 2001. Mutual respect and appreciation form the basis of the mono-brand exhibition that also marks the beginning of the the 20th Anniversary celebrations at ANDREAS MURKUDIS.
