Daniel Heer is a friend of the house, a third-generation maker of horsehair mattresses. Some time ago, we had the opportunity to host an exhibition during the Gallery Weekend, where we showcased his horsehair mattresses as well as his products made from vegetable-tanned deer leather. Based in Blumenthalstrasse, Daniel Heer is a neighbor we greatly appreciate.
Daniel Heer
In 1907, Benedikt Heer founded the Heer saddlery in Lucerne, Switzerland. The Heer family has been making horsehair mattresses ever since. DANIEL HEER brought the craft to Berlin in 2007 in the fourth generation. In 2015, he opened the Schöneberger Zimmer: a workshop apartment with guest rooms where costumers can try out the horsehair mattresses for one night. In 2022, he launched Sleep We Make, an association connecting workshops and designers to create a new collection dedicated to ensuring a restful night's sleep.
