For Art Week 2023, ANDREAS MURKUDIS opened ‘There is a new sun, everyday, a ball of fire.’ – an exhibition of bespoke textile artworks, as well as preliminary watercolor paintings, by Cypriot artist and weaver Joanna Louca. One of the large tasseled pieces was mounted to the wall, while the other three hung freely from the ceiling. Joanna Louca created from a desire to conceive a handmade environment. Calculated and drafted on paper with watercolors, then woven by thread, these dense and impressive textile works were on display in STORE 77 and Joanna Louca attended the opening event.
