Isabell Heimerdinger
Isabell Heimerdinger has been producing exclusively for ANDREAS MURKUDIS. Her ceramic objects carry the uncertainty of their making. A reduction firing in the gas kiln, guided by hand for ten hours, up to 1280 degrees, leaves earthy, unpredictable colour gradients. Each firing produces twenty to thirty pieces, sealed in the kiln for 24 hours before opening onto delight or disappointment. The electric kiln yields something more controlled and vivid.
Conceptually, her objects grow out of direct lived experience: oranges rolling underfoot in a Greek garden became a whole growth cycle in clay, the tender green of the unripe, white blossom, ripeness, decay, and the return to earth. Light on a mountain, a flower meadow, the pull between sun and moon all of it enters the work intuitively. "I'm happy when people use my things and bring them into their everyday lives."
