KARAKTER Presentation

In former STORE 98, ANDREAS MURKUDIS exhibited furniture by KARAKTER for Art Week 2023. Notably, the Danish brand’s newly released leather-covered Scarpa 925 lounge chair and the Scarpa 121 dining chair were on display. Both were designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in the 1960s. A modular sofa from KARAKTER’s GB Lounge collection – designed by Gijs Bakker in 1972 – was also part of the installation. The so-called Saffo and Plexi lamps, designed for KARAKTER by Angelo Mangiarotti in 1967 and 1962 respectively, illuminated the room. KARAKTER researches unrealized sketches and plans by famous late designers, such as Bodil Kjær, Joe Colombo and Angelo Mangiarotti, and produces them for the current market. Their assortment also comprises works by contemporary designers such as Aldo Bakker and PlueerSmitt.
