Olaf Nicolai x Suhrkamp

75 years ago, Willy Fleckhaus gave the Bibliothek Suhrkamp series its iconic cover design and visual language. With 30 Colours for Willy Fleckhaus (2026), Olaf Nicolai reworks this system, bringing new life to its timeless grammar through mathematically calculated colour combinations. A once purely functional design now emerges as conceptual structure. Nicolai doesn't preserve the series, he activates it, revealing the Bibliothek Suhrkamp as a vividly living form.

Titles including Der Liebhaber by Marguerite Duras, Die Jahre by Annie Ernaux, and Wunschloses Unglück by Peter Handke, among others, will be on view in new covers by Olaf Nicolai from September 9th. Join us for the installation opening at STORE 81.
