SHE WHO SAW BEAUTIFUL THINGS by ANOHNI featuring the work of Erika and Julia

In SHE WHO SAW BEAUTIFUL THINGS, ANOHNI presents a photographic series of portraits of her former collaborator Dr. Julia Yasuda, taken by Julia’s late wife Erika Yasuda in Tokyo during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

ANOHNI layers hand-painted silks and drawings within a selection of Erika Yasuda’s extraordinary portraits. The works reflect an insular and delicately composed confluence of enlightened femininity and luxuriant androgyny, persevering in memory despite historical and ongoing existential threats. The selection of photographs shown is based on the book SHE WHO SAW BEAUTIFUL THINGS. Coproduced by Benedikt Terwiel, the publication is available in a limited edition of 300.

Opening: 29 April 2025, 6-9 PM at STORE 77
The exhibition is on view until 14 June 2025.
