Companions Exhibition

“Art to me is a visual language of memory, a dialogue with the world, and a collection of views that have shaped how I see. I have been gathering images – in books, in original works, in the quiet corners of my archive – for a long time. These are my companions. They have traveled with me from storage to shelves, from office to studio, through countless rearrangements in exhibitions and in our stores. Each time, I rediscover something new: a forgotten face, an unexpected detail, or a newfound perspective on a distant landscape.

For this year’s Berlin Gallery Weekend, feel warmly invited to an insight into my archive: see and discover works in books and on walls. Some of these have been tucked away for years; others have been constant presences, like old friends. Some are icons I have admired from afar, their work shaping my understanding of what art can be.” — Andreas Murkudis

The exhibition features selected books from the AM Archive alongside art works by Silvia Bächli, Lewis Baltz, Karl Bohrmann, Bruce Davidson, William Eggleston, Lee Friedlander, Paul Graham, Olav Christopher Jenssen, Donald Judd, Imi Knoebel, Ari Marcopoulos, Brice Marden, Daidō Moriyama, Juan Muñoz, Nan Goldin, Frida Orupabo, Collier Schorr, Larry Sultan, Friedrich Teepe, Henry Wessel, and many more, spanning from Store 77 to Store 81.
